CNHI LLC, the Alabama-based operator of The Joplin Globe, was purchased by the Retirement Systems of Alabama.
The Retirement Systems is buying CNHI's 68 daily newspapers, as well as 40 non-dailies and websites in 22 states.
RSA, a pension fund, has nearly 360,000 members and $44 billion in assets under management.
