Joplin company wins $22M federal contract

Joplin-based EaglePicher plans to add a 100,000-square-foot expansion to one of its facilities in the city after announcing last week it won a significant U.S. Department of Defense contract.

The $22 million contract is to build affordable lithium-ion batteries used for military applications and devices, according to the Joplin Regional Business Journal.

“This award assures EaglePicher will continue to be the leader in advanced lithium-ion technology for defense applications,” said Randy Moore, EaglePicher president, in a news release. “We are delighted to take part in an investment that is critical to our national defense.”
