Joplin CEO denounces Hawley

Posted online

Joplin businessperson David Humphreys, who donated to U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley’s first campaign, on Thursday denounced him.

Humphreys, president and CEO of Tamko Building Products, said Hawley, R-Missouri, is a “political opportunist” who used “irresponsible, inflammatory, and dangerous tactics” to help incite the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol.

Former U.S. Sen. Jack Danforth, Hawley’s political mentor, yesterday said supporting Hawley was “the worst mistake I ever made in my life.”

Additionally, Simon & Schuster canceled a contract with Hawley for an upcoming book release.
