Joplin businessperson asks for tax, ban on small liquor bottles

A Joplin businessperson and nonprofit organizer is asking City Council to ban or place a higher tax on small liquor bottles.

A founder of nonprofit organization Higher Society, which cleans trash from public areas, Jon Thomas Buck said travel-sized liquor bottles are a major contributor to litter citywide.

City Manager Nick Edwards plans to look into the possibility of a ban or higher tax.
