ServiceWorld Computer Center founder Doug Pitt, Morris Oil Co. owner Jim D. Morris and the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, along with an anonymous donor, have created the Care To Learn Fund.
The founders will give $3 for every $1 contributed, and funds will support Springfield schools in meeting students’ basic needs, such as hunger, health and hygiene. Foundation for Springfield Public Schools will manage the fund.
Every district school will be eligible to receive funds, based on free and reduced lunch percentages, according to a news release. School principals, counselors and nurses will identify students in need and make requests.
Doug Pitt – brother to Brad Pitt, a Springfield native – and Morris revealed the initiative Wednesday at Campbell Elementary School.
