"Joker" was the No. 1 film at the box office this weekend, debuting at $93.5 million.
Starring Joaquin Phoenix as the "Batman" villain, the film broke the record for a Thursday night preview, with $13.3 million. The previous record of $10 million was set by "Venom" a year ago.
With 4,374, the film also broke the record for the most theaters showing the movie.
