Johnson & Johnson set in motion plans to buy Swiss biopharmaceutical company Actelion Ltd. for $30 billion.

J&J officials say the deal that's expect to close in the second quarter would immediately bump up its earnings per share and revenue.

Actelion’s drugs Tracleer, Opsumit and Uptravi all treat life-threatening pulmonary arterial hypertension.
