John McArthur, the 92-year-old founder of Johnny Mac's Sporting Goods, died Feb. 10 of pneumonia and cardiac failure.
Founded in 1967 in St. Louis, Johnny Mac's last year sold part of its business to Dallas-based BSN Sports. It then began closing its stores, including a location in Springfield.
The sporting goods retailer operated nine stores at its peak.
