John Ashcroft to keynote Evangel event

Former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft is scheduled to keynote Evangel University's annual Christian Citizenship Week.

Ashcroft is slated to speak Sept. 17 as part of the university's recognition of Constitution Day, according to a news release.

"This annual event celebrates the anniversary of the U.S. Constitution, as well as our role as citizens under the law,” said Bryan Sanders, Evangel social sciences department chairman and coordinator of the event, in the release. “Voter registration also will be an emphasis, with an opportunity for students to register to vote provided during dinner time."

Also a former Missouri governor and U.S. senator, Ashcroft now leads Ashcroft Law Firm LLC in Kansas City and consulting firm The Ashcroft Group LLC in Arlington, Va.

Evangel's Christian Citizenship Week is scheduled Sept. 16-20.
