Jobs recovery lost steam in August

Economists thought the economy would pick up 226,000 jobs in August. The economists were off a bit. The August tally was a paltry 142,000.
 
The drop breaks a six-month streak of job gains of more than 200,000 a month and could raise concern over the strength of the jobs rebound. According to CNNMoney, many Americans still feel as if the jobs market hasn't yet recovered. That sentiment is also attributable to flat or slowly moving wages that are barely keeping pace with inflation and costs of living.
 
Calling August the "quirkiest month" and an "anomaly," experts cited by CNNMoney pointed out that the August figures will probably be revised up after adjustments are made.
