Job openings in U.S. climb to highest since September '07

The Labor Department announced Tuesday that job openings in the U.S. climbed to an almost seven-year high in April, according to Bloomberg.

The Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey showed open jobs rose by 289,000 to 4.46 million, the highest since September 2007. The pace of firing and job quits also rose.

Bloomberg reports job openings increased at manufacturers, leisure and hospitality companies, retailers and professional and business service providers. They fell at construction firms.
