Jimmy Carter says doctors found cancer in his brain

Former President Jimmy Carter announced Thursday he has been diagnosed with brain cancer and would begin radiation treatment the same day.

In a news conference held at the Carter Center in Atlanta, Carter, 90, said four melanoma spots on his brain were discovered by doctors following an Aug. 3 procedure to remove similar cancer from his liver.

Carter said despite undergoing treatment, he currently plans to teach his regular Sunday school class at Maranatha Baptist Church in his hometown of Plains, Ga., this weekend.
