Jeter retirement announcement pushes ticket prices

Posted online
New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter announced Wednesday that he plans to retire after the 2014 season, and fans are willing to put down a hunk of change to watch his final game in person.

Assuming he remains healthy, Jeter’s final regular-season game at Yankee Stadium will be September 25th against the Orioles. The Yankees’ season finale will come three days later, at the end of a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

The cheapest tickets for the game against the Red Sox already have jumped from $91 to more than $200, according to USA Today.
