Jeter must work two innings to pay taxes on farewell gifts

Posted online
Retiring New York Yankees ball payer Derek Jeter received so many farewell gifts, he has to work extra to pay taxes on all the loot.

But don't feel too bad for Jeter; he only has to work two extra innings.

Bloomberg reports, Jeter, who was paid $12 million this season and more than $265 million in his career, will owe about $16,000 in state and federal taxes on the gifts, which included golf clubs, wine, vacation packages, two sets of cowboy boots and a kayak.

The worst part for Jeter, the Yankees haven't decided if they will shower him with more lavish gifts during his final home game this week.
