Officials with JetBlue Airways and Spirit Airlines announced plans to file an appeal in an attempt to overturn their blocked acquisition deal.
A federal judge recently ruled against JetBlue's proposed $3.8 billion purchase of Spirit for anticompetitive reasons.
JetBlue officials have said it's necessary to buy Spirit to compete with larger airlines.
