Jerry Jones gives $10.65M to University of Arkansas athletic department

Posted online
In a combination of cash and land, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his wife, Gene, have donated $10.65 million to the University of Arkansas athletic department.

According to Arkansas Business, projects the gifts will fund include a student athlete center, a football locker room and a “Wild Band of Razorbacks” monument for the 1964 national championship football team. Jones was a starting offensive lineman and co-captain for the ’64 team.

The university's board of trustees has made a recommendation to name the student-athlete center the Jerry & Gene Jones Family Student-Athlete Success Center. The 55,000-square-foot center, under construction and set for completion by early fall, is designed with 30 tutor rooms, an open study and lounge space, computer and group lab space, a 125-seat auditorium, a 90-seat multipurpose room and a nutrition center.

Arkansas Business reports the cash contribution will be made over five years.
