Jeff Bezos becomes world's second-richest person

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos moved past Amancio Ortega and Warren Buffett to become the second-richest person in the world.

The 53-year-old's fortune rose by $1.5 billion on Wednesday as Amazon shares jumped on news it would buy Dubai-based online retailer Souq.com.

Bezos now has a net worth of $75.6 billion on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates remains the world’s richest person with $86 billion.
