JE Dunn CEO's first 150 days: Learning a new role

JE Dunn Construction started the year with a new CEO in place, the first outside the Dunn family in the history of the 90-year-old Kansas City company.

Kansas City Business Journal caught up with CEO Gordon Lansford to see how he’s settled into the post.

Here’s a quick snapshot of the daily grind for the boss of a national general contractor:

• travels three days a week,  mostly making proposals for national projects;
• grapples with skilled labor shortages for specific projects across the country;
• works early mornings and late nights, especially with modern digital connectivity; and
• seeks support and advice, as needed, from the family that started it all.
