The board of Jasper County Emergency Services has hired a new executive director for the 911 system.
Lisa McCool-Rataczak, a 28-year dispatching veteran, is slated to start on Monday.
“When I started in 1995, it was one dispatcher with a pen-and-paper notebook log and that was it,” McCool-Rataczak told the Joplin Globe. "The service has changed so much, and it continues to grow. I think that struggle is probably what made me need to continue in this career. I wanted to grow."
