Former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle got 16 years; his accomplice got 27.
Russell Taylor, the former head of Fogle’s charitable foundation, was sentenced Thursday to 27 years on charges of producing child pornography involving children as young as 9 and 20 years for distributing child pornography. The sentences will be served concurrently.
USA Today reports a tearful Taylor spoke at his sentencing hearing, telling the courtroom he's been "falling asleep in a puddle of tears every night" since his arrest. The sentence is more than his attorneys asked for – 15 to 22 years – and less than the 35 years prosecutors asked for.
Taylor, who headed The Jared Foundation from 2008 until his arrest in April, pleaded guilty to 12 counts of producing child pornography. The charges involve images of children between the ages of 9 and 16 that Taylor recorded in his Indianapolis homes and then shared with Fogle and others. He also pleaded guilty to one count of distributing child pornography.
