Jared Enterprises lands first tenant in BKD HQ

Lathrop & Gage LLP has signed on for downtown space in the building that houses the headquarters of national accounting firm BKD LLP.

The Kansas City-based law firm is planning to relocate its Springfield practice to 910 E. St. Louis St. in the first quarter of 2013, moving from its current location at 1845 S. National Ave., near Mercy Hospital Springfield, according to a news release.

“By relocating offices, we are making a long-term commitment to downtown Springfield," said Randell Wallace, partner with Lathrop & Gage in Springfield, in the release. "After assisting our clients in numerous downtown redevelopment projects, we are glad to be returning to downtown ourselves, where the firm’s first Springfield office was opened in 1998.  

"The new office will provide even more space for our team to work in a collaborative environment and to better serve our clients.”

The firm plans to occupy 19,000 square feet on the first floor of the building, which is owned by Jared Enterprises. According to the release, the firm's move is being assisted by real estate agents Tom Rankin and Jeff Childs of Sperry Van Ness Rankin Co. The space had been listed for $22.95 per square foot.

The building, located across the street from the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, is built to  Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Gold standards.

Jared Enterprises purchased the East St. Louis Street building in 2010 from Kansas City developer Opus Northwest LLC. Construction of the four-story, 109,000-square-foot building cost $21.5 million when it was built in 2009. BKD moved from Hammons Tower to occupy the top three floors of the building in August 2009, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.[[In-content Ad]]
