Japanese firm to invest $30M in Kan. cellophane plant

A Japanese firm penned a deal to buy the Innovia Films cellophane plant in Tecumseh, Kan., and invest $30 million over the next four years to increase production by 60 percent and add nearly 30 jobs.

The facility is said to be the last cellophane plant in the United States, according to The Topeka Capital-Journal.

Futamara Chemicals expects to complete the purchase June 30. The plant currently has 172 employees.
