Japan slashes target for women in senior positions

Failing in its bid to hire more women to senior posts in government and business, Japan has cut its goals.

The government's gender equality bureau cut its target of hiring women in senior government jobs to 7 percent from 30 percent by 2020.

The private sector goal also was cut to 15 percent.
