Japan economy minister to resign over funding scandal

Akira Amari, Japan's economy minister, announced on Thursday he would resign amid bribery allegations that came to light last week.

Nobuteru Ishihara, a top politician of the governing Liberal Democratic Party, will succeed him.

Amari and his staff allegedly violating political funding laws by taking money from a construction company. He allegedly did not disclose $101,000 in payments.
