Springfield's January 1 percent sales tax check from the Missouri Department of Revenue decreased 8.5 percent to $3.11 million, compared to December collections of $3.4 million, according to a city news release.
The January check, which represents purchases made in fiscal 2011 in December, is 8.01 percent lower than fiscal 2010 revenues of $3.39 million.
The city's sales tax collections for the 2010-11 fiscal year began in July.
Year-to-date collections are $21.1 million, a 1.63 percent increase over $20.8 million recorded at the same time last year.
