Janet Yellen sworn in as chair of the Fed

Janet Yellen was sworn in Monday to a term as chair of the U.S. central bank, the Federal Reserve said in a statement.

She succeeds Ben Bernanke to become the first woman to lead the the Fed, according to Fox News. Her term ends Feb. 3, 2018.

In a separate article, Fox News reported Bernanke will join the Brookings Institution, a Washington-based think tank where he will serve as a distinguished fellow in residence for its economic studies program.
