Remember the 2009 flick “Avatar”? Want more? Then James Cameron has a surprise for you.
During this week’s CinemaCon, the director announced he will release four sequels – instead of the previously thought three – slated for Christmas in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2023.
“So far what I’m seeing – the art on the walls, the stuff that’s been developed – is in pure imagination really far beyond the first film,” he told the Los Angeles Times. “But we’ve begun to bump up against the limitations of our artform. As the writing process has continued, and now that the script work is finishing up, it’s not three films – it’s four.”
Avatar brought in a record box office of $2.8 billion, making it one of the highest-grossing films of all time.
