Tata Motors, the parent company of Jaguar Land Rover, posted a surprise quarterly loss of more than $1 billion.
During the quarter, the Indian company wrote off $2.1 billion related to its revamp of United Kingdom-based Jaguar Land Rover.
Analysts were looking for $365.4 million in profits.
