New Marshfield High School
This $12 million project for the Marshfield R-I School District is designed by J. Christopher Ball, AIA. Don Crawford Construction is the contractor on the bond-funded project, which broke ground in fall 1999 and is expected to be complete by this fall.
This 175,000-square-foot facility is a two-story building designed to use the topography of the site to its advantage. Each department of the school is housed on a different wing or floor, allowing future expansion of each department independently.
One of the main features of the building is an 800-seat auditorium, which is a combined effort between the school district and a local foundation. Other features include a 2,000-seat gymnasium, several sports and practice fields, and a two-story student commons for gathering and the display of work.
