Itty Bitty City, a children's play center in Kickapoo Corners, is closing after nearly nine years in operation.
The 3640 S. Campbell Ave. business announced in a Facebook post yesterday that Aug. 31 would be its last day open.
Co-owner Alexandra Haley said via email this morning that multiple factors led to the closure decision.
"Like many small businesses, we’ve faced a number of challenges over the past few years – rising costs, the lingering impacts of COVID and shifting community habits," she said. "Ultimately, despite all of our efforts, it just wasn’t sustainable to keep the business going long term."
Haley said she and husband Marty purchased Itty Bitty City in 2021 from founder Fawn Rechkemmer. The business launched in October 2016.
"Itty Bitty City has been such a special place for families, and closing it is truly bittersweet," Haley said. "We’re so grateful for the families who have supported us and created memories here."
