"It," the adaptation of Stephen King's thriller, smashed multiple records over the weekend.
The film posted $117.2 million at the domestic box office and another $62 million overseas. That puts the total debut at $179.2 million.
The movie recorded the best ever box office opening for the month of September. "It" also surpassed 2011's "Paranormal Activity 3" as the largest opening for an R-rated thrill. It also was the biggest opening for any adaptation of a King novel.
