Isabel's House names new leader

Posted online
The Isabel's House Board of Directors has hired a Springfield nonprofit leader as the organization's next executive director.

Andrea Vent started Oct. 14 with Isabel's House. She moved to Springfield more than six years ago to work as director of advancement for Boys & Girls Town of Missouri. Vent succeeds Dottie Mullikin, who abruptly exited her post in March less than six months after taking the lead of the Junior League of Springfield children's crisis nursery. Isabel's House Program Manager JaeLeann Velten served as interim director until this month, Vent said. The Isabel's House board remained mum on Mullikin's exit.

Ten days into her new post, Vent said she is getting acclimated with the position and the nonprofit's mission to provide temporary residential care year-round for children whose families are facing short-term crisis.

"It's just been heartwarming getting to know the board and the staff and the mission. Being able to help kids in their time of need - it's just a wonderful opportunity," Vent said.

Vent is the fourth director of Isabel's House since its 2007 inception. Mullikin succeed Francine Pratt, who took a position with Drury University in mid-2012.
