IRS worker headcount dwindling

Posted online

Worker headcount at the IRS is falling rapidly, according to a report by Fox Business.

Officials with the federal agency say 27 percent of its workforce will be eligible for retirement at year’s end, and it’s having difficulty hiring younger workers. Of its staff, less than 0.5 percent are workers under the age of 26.

The IRS also lost 18,000 full-time positions between 2010 and the start of 2018, and last year alone, 6,801 permanent jobs were lost, according to the report.
