The IRS is warning citizens that a tax scam aimed at stealing refunds is getting worse.
According to the IRS, the number of potential victims rose from a few hundred to "several thousand in just days."
The scam is said to have started in tax preparers' offices, where infected computers provided access to crucial consumer data.
