Investor burned by Bernie Madoff jumps to his death

A hedge fund executive with ties to Bernie Madoff plunged to his death at a posh New York hotel on Monday.

Charles Murphy was pronounced dead after 5 p.m. at the Sofitel building in what authorities are calling an apparent suicide.

Murphy's Fairfield Greenwich fund invested over $7 billion with Madoff before it became known he was running a Ponzi scheme. Fairfield later agreed to pay a $125 million settlement related to the Madoff case.

According to CNBC, Murphy is believed to be the fourth person to commit suicide in connection with Madoff.
