Fred M. Mathews, PE, PLS, is the project engineer for the joint city of Springfield/MoDOT/one-eighth-cent sales tax project. Improvements include the addition of dual left-turn lanes in all directions, maintaining right-turn lanes and current access restrictions. Design traffic volumes are 50,400 vehicles per day for Kansas Expressway and 31,400 vehicles per day for Battlefield Road.
