Interpol chief resigns after detention in China

Meng Hongwei resigned as head of the International Criminal Police Organization after being detained in China.

Chinese authorities said Monday they are investigating Meng for alleged bribery. The allegations come 13 days after Meng went missing.

Chinese security officials claim Meng's alleged corruption and violation of laws "gravely jeopardised" the ruling party and the police.
