Intel notified some customers, including Chinese technology firms, of chip flaws before the U.S. government, people familiar with the matter told Fox Business.
The chip flaws, dubbed Spectre and Meltdown, can be leveraged to steal sensitive data.
Intel had planned to make the discovery public on Jan. 9 but sped up the timeline after the news was reported Jan. 3.
