Integrity Home Care relocates Joplin office

Posted online
Nearly a year after purchasing a $1 million Joplin building on East 32nd Street, Springfield-based Integrity Home Care has finished renovations and relocated its 30 Joplin employees.

Phil Melugin, president of Integrity Home Care’s Joplin branch, said the company had outgrown its 4,400-square-foot East Seventh Street office and eventually settled at 4830 E. 32nd St., the former Antique Mansion, closing the deal in fall 2007.

“We were on top of each other,” Melugin said. “Our new location is 30,000 square feet, and we occupy about 10,000 square feet of that. We’ve more than doubled our available space.”

Melugin said 6,000 square feet is leased to Therapy Support, and another 14,000 square feet is available for lease.

After the $1 million acquisition, Melugin said Integrity invested another $800,000 in renovations, all financed through Empire Bank.

Bob Stockdale, of Creative Ink Architects in Springfield, served as architect and construction manager on the job, which turned a gutted building into usable office space.

Melugin said employees began moving in early June, and that it’s already “business as usual.”

The office oversees more than 350 caregivers and clinicians serving more than 700 clients in the tri-state area. Integrity Home Care also has centers in Springfield, Columbia, Kansas City, Osage Beach and Branson.

The Joplin branch serves into Lawrence and Barry County, just across the Kansas state line, and into Vernon County.

Melugin said the need for those caregivers has increased over the years, and he attributes much of that to the changing generations.

“Our society is changing so rapidly,” he said. “The caregiver network of parents and children living near each other just doesn’t exist anymore. Children have expanded out and now live on the east and west coast, away from their parents. Many of the folks we care for have family nowhere near by; and those that are near are either indifferent or are unequipped to meet the healthcare needs of the clients that we serve.

“Our services are primarily an alternative to nursing home care,” Melugin added. “You get the same level of care, but in a home setting. That helps to enhance the quality of life as much as possible.”

Melugin said the new location includes a full training lab for new caregivers and clinicians.
