Springfield, MO
April 1 is an important day for Insurors of the Ozarks.
The Springfield-based insurance company was formed on that day in 1982. Bryant Young joined the company on that day in 2012. And now, Young is set to buy the business on April 1 this year.
Young said he's scheduled to close on the first day of April on the purchase of Insurors of the Ozarks from his father, Greg L. Young. He'll become the third-generation owner of the business, which was founded by Greg L. Young and his father, the late Bill D. Young.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to continue the legacy created by my father and grandfather and excited to continue protecting our neighbors and continue to be an active member of this community," Bryant Young said in an interview with Springfield Business Journal.
Young declined to disclose the financial terms of the deal for the four-employee insurance firm, which operates at 2104 E. Sunshine St. He said the company primarily serves as a personal insurance agency, with policies including homeowners, automotive and rental property insurance, and it also has a small commercial insurance offering.
"We see that our products and our industry can sometimes be treated like a commodity. We really put a lot of emphasis on offering sound advice to those that are buying these policies," he said. "We really value our ability to be advisers beyond just salespeople."
For Young, most of his professional career has been spent at Insurors of the Ozarks, save for a couple years out of college at a State Farm agency in northwest Arkansas.
"I've been working in the business for 14 years," he said, noting at age 37, the opportunity to own a company is "a moment 37 years in the making."
He added, "Obviously, I was also raised in it."
Insurors of the Ozarks ranked No. 14 on SBJ's 2025 list of the area's largest independent insurance agencies, based on four agents as the ranking criteria.
