Insurers take big hit from Hurricane Ida

Hurricane Ida is estimated to have caused nearly $18 billion in damages that will be covered by insurers.

Risk-modeling firm Karen Clark & Co. provided the estimate, saying most of it was incurred in the United States.

Some $40 million of covered damages are in the Caribbean.
