Inmon Interiors closing up shop after 53 years

Betty Inmon is working toward the close of her South Campbell Avenue furniture and interior design services shop, Inmon Interiors Ltd.

"I'm 84 years old, and I've been in business 50 years," Inmon said of her decision to wind down the store that she and her late husband, Ray, launched in 1959. "I have appreciated the business that Springfield has given me."

Inmon said she hasn't set a concrete closing date, but she said the store would close after its inventory sells out. She said she is about halfway through closing out the store's stock.

The 15,000-square-foot store operates within Camelot Center, which the Inmons built in 1972.

Inmon, who still works full-time at Inmon Interiors, said closing the shop would allow her to spend more time managing the shopping center, as well as other properties she owns with her son, Rick Inmon. The Inmons own Nixa Warehouse LLC, a 40,000-square-foot industrial facility; Branson West Ace Hardware; and roughly 200 acres of farmland near Highlandville.

Betty Inmon said she has no current plans to sell any of her properties.
