Independence seeks to buy former GEHA building

The city of Independence is seeking to buy a vacant building that previously was occupied by the Government Employees Health Association Inc.

Independence City Council next month is scheduled to consider a measure that would authorize a $20 million lease-purchase agreement for the 90,000-square-foot building.

The City Utility Center would relocate to the building.
