In lawsuit response, SBA says PPP info exempt from disclosure

The U.S. Small Business Administration is contending that detailed information about the Paycheck Protection Program should not be made public.

The filing was made in a lawsuit brought on by 11 news organizations, including St. Louis Business Journal operator American City Business Journals.

"We believe that that's proprietary information, and in many cases for sole proprietors and small businesses, it is confidential information," U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin last week told Congress, saying he would not release the names of PPP borrowers.
