In France, kidnapping the boss usually pays off

When workers at a Goodyear Tire & Rubber plant in France kidnapped two executives last week in an attempt to keep the plant open and almost 1,200 people employed, reaction from American executives was swift and incredulous.

There’s no way such extreme measures could lead to anything other than incarceration for the kidnappers, right? Guess again.

Turns out, “bossnapping” is an effective way to get concessions for employees, according to Bloomberg Businessweek. Not only do workers benefit, the public supports the actions and kidnappers haven’t been prosecuted.
