Southwestern Illinois College is planning a $20 million manufacturing training academy.
The school in Belleville, Illinois, near St. Louis, is slated to start construction in September. The project is expected to wrap in August 2024.
“These are living wage, raise a family, buy a house, get a nice truck kind of jobs,” said Brad Sparks, dean of Technical Education and Workforce Development at SWIC, on the kinds of jobs students would be able to obtain with skills from the training academy.
