Ikea to help adopt homeless animals

Posted online
What goes better with your new family couch than a new puppy? No home is complete without one – at least that's what Ikea says.

Business Insider reports the Swedish retailer's stores in Tempe, Ariz., and Singapore are placing life-sized cardboard cutouts of homeless cats and dogs on the couches, rugs and bunk beds of its showrooms.

As of now, the success rate is 100 percent. Of the six cutouts placed in the Tempe store, all six pets have already been adopted.

The idea for the program originated in Singapore, with a partnership between Ikea and Home for Hope, a coalition of pet adoption agencies, according to Business Insider.

More cutouts will appear in stores nationwide beginning July 29.
