Iceland prime minister steps down

Iceland Prime Minister Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson stepped down from his post yesterday following the Sunday release of the so-called Panama Papers.

Gunnlaugsson, 41, said he is leaving office “for an unspecified amount of time" after protests called for his resignation.

The leaked documents indicated Gunnlaugsson and his wife set up an offshore tax haven in the British Virgin Islands.
