The Jordan Valley Recreational Ice Facility will be dedicated at 10 a.m. Sept. 22. Events surrounding the dedication will include an open house and tours and a hockey game that evening featuring the St. Louis Blues Alumni Squad, the St. Louis Sting and the SMS Ice Bears, a new hockey club, said Louise Whall, city public information officer. Events continue Sept. 23 with free public skating during the day followed by College Night, offering free skating with a college ID.
The architect for the $7.3 million project is Ankeny Kell Architects of St. Paul, Minn., and the engineer is Springfield's own Gaskin-Hill-Nor-cross. Walton Construction Company Inc. is the general contractor for the ice rink.
