IBM is splitting into two companies by the end of next year.
The company known as IBM will focus on services such as its cloud platform and artificial intelligence. Tentatively known as NewCo, the other company will encompass managed infrastructure services such as information technology.
The 109-year-old company's stock closed at a nearly 6% increase on the news yesterday.
